Delivering integrated filtration systems today
Via’s core technology is our membranes, and the product we deliver to customers is our proprietary filtration system based on extensive piloting and real-world operation.
Via filtration systems drive both bottom and top line improvements for industrial customers. Our technology reduces energy costs, provides operational flexibility, and de-bottlenecks production.
Proprietary Membranes
Durable graphene oxide membranes, precisely tuned to perform challenging separations across markets.
Drop-In Filtration System
Complete system integrates Via membranes into customer’s existing processes in a compact footprint.
Performance-Driven Profitability
Via systems deliver quality separations while reducing costs, energy, and production bottlenecks.
PULP & PAPER
Black liquor recovery is the most capital and energy intensive component of a Kraft pulp mill. Via’s Black Liquor Concentration System (BLCS) concentrates weak black liquor prior to evaporation, translating to cost savings and operational benefits for pulp mills.
Learn MoreVia’s Black Liquor Concentration System (BLCS) displaces steam use in evaporators using a reverse-osmosis-like process to directly remove hot, clean water from weak black liquor (WBL). The compact BLCS integrates into existing mill footprints to concentrate WBL up to 40% solids.
Via BLCS flow diagram
Via Separations’ efficient concentration process can eliminate production bottlenecks and reduce the energy consumption of black liquor concentration by up to 50%. Mills with limitations in washing or high fuel costs typically realize additional free cash flow in the millions of dollars per year with a Via system.
Via’s first commercial scale BLCS is operational today at an International Paper site in Grande Prairie, AB. To learn more about how Via can improve efficiency at your facility, please contact us.

Heavy crudes are becoming more prevalent, but refineries are limited in the amount they can process by the size of the vacuum distillation unit (VDU). A Via filtration system augments the VDU, reducing costs and energy consumption while unlocking additional heavy crude processing capacity.
ACID PROCESSING
Acid processing is a large market that touches both the chemicals and refining sectors. For example, sulfuric acid is used as a catalyst in many refinery alkylation units. Via would provide on-site processing of sulfuric acid, reducing costs and emissions while enabling recovery of acid-soluble oils (ASOs).
SOUR WATER STRIPPING
Sour water is collected in almost every process in a refinery. Via can help to reduce energy consumption and increase throughput for sour water stripping through improved separation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide from water.
FUTURE MARKETS
We’re not stopping there. Via is expanding our filtration platform into new markets.
